Champions re-live vintage Hollywood at annual charity ball

Throughout the year we host a number of events that always seek to raise funds for worthy causes, from sports and business awards to corporate days and charity balls. Since 2007 we have raised a significant amount of money through such events which currently stands at a grand total of £1,924,804.88 for charities.

Our most recent charity event took place on the evening of the 27th January at Leicester’s iconic King Power Stadium. The function was our annual celebrity charity ball which saw some of our valued clients, and high profile celebrities gather for a glittering evening of entertainment and fundraising.

The celebrities in attendance on the night included Sam Bailey, Bill Roache MBE, Neil Back MBE, Tony Currie, David Garrido, Nigel Spink, Andy Abraham and Cherylee Houston as well as host of the evening Dominic Holland and celebrity guest-auctioneer Derek Redmond.

Each year we select a glamorous theme for the ball and this year we chose vintage Hollywood which was carried across the decoration of the venue, the entertainment and the dress code with everyone donning stunning dresses and suits.

The lavish evening was in aid of a charity very close to everyone’s hearts at Champions (UK) plc, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People. The hospice is based in Loughborough and gives children with life threatening and life limiting illnesses a place to laugh, play and love. The evening saw a great sum of money raised for the hospice with guests generously bidding on a selection of lavish prizes.

As well as enjoying a fantastic three course meal, guests were treated to some spectacular live entertainment hand-picked to mirror the glitz and glamour of the evening. Entertainment included Sing Baby Sing, are a four-member band who step into the shoes of 70s soul group, The Stylistics. Totally Tina, the UK’s Number one tribute to Tina Turner also took to the stage and stunned everyone with her uncanny appearance, powerful vocals and colourful stage arrangement. To top off the vintage Hollywood theme, there was also a Marilyn Monroe impersonator – a fitting addition as she is the true reigning icon of Hollywood.

The evening was a huge success and we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their attending and for their generous donations. Bring on next year’s event!
