Farmfoods returns to our screens

Frozen food specialist, Farmfoods has returned to the nation’s screens with a series of primetime adverts on ITV. From developing the initial concept through to getting the adverts to air on ITV, the team here at Champions (UK) plc were heavily involved in every stage of the campaign, which emphasises Farmfoods’ core message of “Great Food at Amazing Prices.”

The current round of adverts, running from 1st to 30th June, forms the second tranche of a two part TV campaign that first saw these primetime adverts broadcast on ITV throughout January of this year. The Champions (UK) plc team worked meticulously with Farmfoods over a three month period in the autumn of 2013 to plan, create and execute their television advertising campaign as part of a broader integrated media strategy for 2014.

During that period we secured the services of renowned Strictly Come Dancing judge, Len Goodman, as a brand ambassador for Farmfoods. Moving forward from that point, we produced a number of ideas to form the basis of the adverts, which were then converted into storyboard format for review and approval by Farmfoods.

Once the central premise of the adverts was finalised, we embarked on the complex production phase. This process encompassed all aspects of site and production planning, scriptwriting, voiceovers with Len, the selection and management of all extras and the supervision of filming on set over the course of a very long day.

We have an excellent track record in media buying so we were able to tie up our choice of ITV’s primetime spots and deliver for Farmfoods the highest Television Viewer Ratings and target audience reach. The final stage for Champions (UK) plc involved attending to all the requisite compliance issues and ensuring that the final, polished versions of the adverts went to air on ITV.

The campaign has repaid Farmfoods’ investment in spades and Len himself has proven a real hit with audiences. The adaptation of his familiar Strictly refrain “Gets a ten from Len!” has gained real traction with the public and we have succeeded in maximising both the adverts’ impact and a wider brand awareness.

At Champions (UK) plc, we are proud of our long-standing relationship with Farmfoods. We have worked extremely hard to advance their cause and are very happy to report that our recent marketing activities have delivered them dramatic increases in product sales.
