Kenneth Clarke Opens Champions’ New £1 million Media Hub
On Friday 15th November, former Chancellor of the Exchequer and local Rushcliffe MP, Ken Clarke, was the guest of honour at the official opening of our new state of the art £1 million digital hub.
The new digital hub marks the third expansion in Champions’ 16-year history, reflecting the incredible growth journey we are currently on. The vibrant new media centre houses more than 40 members of the team working in digital services, such as web development, SEO and digital advertising, alongside our PR and social media teams, brand strategists and influencer marketing division.
Joining hundreds of guests and the whole Champions team at a special celebratory event at our Costock head office, Mr. Clark was welcomed back to mark the beginning of the next chapter in the Champions story. Mr. Clark, who recently stood down as the Conservative MP for Rushcliffe after nearly 50 years in Parliament, previously opened our HQ in 2009 and then a 15,0000 sq. ft. extension in 2015.
At the recent opening event, Mr. Clark said, “thank you for the invitation and I’m grateful to be opening an office for Champions once again. I’m here because I’m delighted to congratulate the Champions family and to celebrate their move to this centre. It’s a mark, as we all know, of Champions’ continued success.”
The occasion was marked in true Champions style, with a champagne reception where clients, celebrities and the entire team mingled ahead of a delicious three-course meal.
We welcomed Olympic badminton legend Gail Emms MBE who did a fantastic job at hosting the event. England cricketing hero Matthew Hoggard MBE, who is one of our managed talents, also delivered a great speech and even managed to win a few laughs along the way.
X Factor stars Sam Bailey and Andy Abraham, who are proud members of the Champions family, performed along with one of the UK’s finest pop, soul and funk bands, Urban Intro. Renowned pianist Adrian Dixon also added to the entertainment, ensuring there wasn’t a dull moment.
Included on the guestlist was none other than William Roache MBE, who you may know best as Ken Barlow, his long-standing character in Coronation Street. We are grateful for William’s historic and ongoing support of Champions, having worked closely with him for over a decade.
Guests took a tour of the new media hub, led by our digital director, Amad Tabab, who explained our broader vision and the new capabilities the centre will enable us to build and develop.
“Since I joined Champions in 2014, I’ve seen the digital team grow significantly,” he said. “We have more clients than ever before and are undertaking digital work in a variety of new areas.
By moving into a new purpose-built suite, it allows us to further develop our digital offering, supporting all of our clients’ needs. This year has seen us make big strides, working with a number of high-profile clients and we’re looking forward to seeing what other exciting developments happen in our new home.”
The launch event was a great success. Matthew Hayes expanded, “our new media hub marks the next chapter in Champions’ story and today was a great way to mark the occasion,” he said.
“Having the right digital presence is vital to the success of any business which is why we’ve invested heavily in this area and are thrilled with the growth we’ve seen as a result.
“Over the next few years, this is an area we are keen to build on even further and this new building is the perfect way to do so.”
