Champions Goes Stateside With The Rip It Fort Lauderdale Grand Prix

Representing the first ever event organised by Champions (UK) plc on American soil, the 2018 Rip It Fort Lauderdale Grand Prix marked the finale of the biggest competition in personal watercraft racing - P1 AquaX. With an array of professional and amateur riders descending on the Florida coast with their eye on the prize, the event saw some of the sport's fiercest competitors face off against one another.

The Champions team played a crucial role in shaping the event's success, delivering a range of digital campaigns in the areas of PR and social. In addition, the team also took care of videography and event management duties, helping to add a new dimension to an already much-anticipated occasion.

The global popularity of the P1 AquaX competition attracted riders from every corner of the globe, featuring racers from places such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Latin America and China. With each of them taking to the water in the hope of clinching the national P1 AquaX title, the audience was treated to an exhilarating display of speed and dexterity. In the end, it was West Palm Beach native and world number one Eric Francis who was crowned the season winner.

The P1 Rip It Fort Lauderdale Grand Prix was attended by a legion of spectators eager to catch a glimpse of the action. More than 2000 attendees came to watch the race unfold, spurring the racers on towards the finish line.

Following the event's success, our events team are hopeful that it marks the start of a new chapter and they will continue to organise more memorable events over the pond and beyond
