EDI is a necessary focus for all organisations in the modern world. Those that fail to prioritise their inclusive representation will be left behind by the competition. 

As Head of Inclusion at Champions (UK) plc, I’m constantly intrigued by what the industry’s most prominent companies are doing to tackle current EDI issues and prevent discrimination internally. 

On my journey of researching companies that have truly mastered the art of inclusion, Microsoft has emerged as a standout. 

In this blog, we look into how the tech giants have worked to enhance their inclusive representation and equity. 

Microsoft: A Beacon of Inclusive Representation 

Taking a very comprehensive approach to EDI is not just an amazing effort but an exemplary result. Microsoft’s commitment and driving force in creating an inclusive environment have profoundly impacted their products, services, and overall bottom line, demonstrating that genuine dedication to diversity can create very significant business benefits.

Microsoft's approach includes supporting over 40 Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that cater to various communities such as women, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and ethnic minorities. These ERGs play a crucial role in promoting networking, support, and positive change within the organisation, allowing employees to bring their authentic selves to work.

Their Neurodiversity Hiring Programme is a prime example, designed to attract neurodivergent candidates by providing an extended interview process that emphasises workability and skills assessment.
